Complaints and whistleblowing
How to raise a complaint or report wrongdoing at S.E.W.F, how we handle it, and how we protect people who speak up.
Who can complain
Anyone: people we serve, members, staff, volunteers, partners and the public.
What you can report
- Poor service or unfair treatment
- Abuse, exploitation or harassment
- Misuse of money or property, corruption or fraud
- Breaches of our constitution or policies
How to report
- Write to the Chairperson at our head office, marked “Confidential – Complaint” (see Contact).
- If your concern is about the Chairperson, address it to the Executive Secretary or the Treasurer.
- Or email info@sewf.or.tz with the subject “Confidential – Complaint”.
- You may visit the head office in person.
- Anonymous reports are accepted. Give as much detail as you can.
What happens next
- We acknowledge your complaint within 7 days.
- Someone not involved in the matter looks into it.
- We aim to give you a response within 30 days.
- If it is not settled, the Board handles it; if the Board cannot resolve it, the matter goes to the General Meeting.
Protection for people who speak up
No one will be punished for raising a concern honestly. Retaliation is itself a breach of this policy. We keep reports confidential and share details only with those who need them.
Child protection and crimes
Concerns about a child follow our child protection policy. Crimes are referred to the police.
Outside help
You may also contact the police, the Registrar of Non-Governmental Organizations, the National Child Helpline on 116, or the Personal Data Protection Commission for data complaints.
